Google Keeps Changing its AlgorithmHas anyone noticed a big SERP change in Google in the last few days? It appears that Google is updating its algorithm, as the result in the SERP is varying drastically for a particular site. It has been noticed recently that people are either complaining or admiring a major shift in their rankings over the past 24 hours. We now know that directory submission is important but not as much as before. For a top ranking on SERP we have to improve the information of the site and make the content appear fresh. Those who have worked really hard to gain links through the right way by writing great content will probably attain a rank in the SERP but those with cheap links and poor content will fade away fast from the SERP. Recently it is found that there are some ups and downs in the SERP of Google and regarding the static ranking order. The reason behind it is the presence of Google’s Regularly Scheduled Programming. It is assumed that Google will update page rank of all sites and blogs more frequently and will consider fresh content for ranking. It will remove unusual sites from SERP and will compare all the content and keep the most recent content in the ranking page. It is known that content is king and presently Google is laying more emphasis on sites with relevant content. Sites with tons of links but with very little content will have a tougher time now. Google will pay a special attention to artificial links and according to Cutts, Google Universal Search will continue to expand its factors and webmasters have to think beyond basic SEO. 37 Responses to “Google Keeps Changing its Algorithm” |

I’ve noticed that they changed the algorithm again (June/ 2009) - One day a site is 11 for a particular keyword and the next day, it gets bumped back to 90 and then a few days later, it’s back up to 16.

Well, it’s pretty much straight that google wants to lower the value of PR in the mind of people.. basically, people do anything to get high PR and then sell links so fluctuating PR on random basis might lower the value of PR and poeple might start giving more importance to other factors (site visitors etc..) before buying the links / ads.

I think that as time goes on, factors of on-page and off-page SEO will change as we think it. I think we will see a transformation towards user metrics in deciding SERP results. That combined with advanced personalized SERP results and we’ll be seeing a huge change of the users experience with Bing and the other SEs. Every search result will not be made alike, just look at things like user involvement, bounce rate, bounce time, etc… Put your energy on a better site all around, and I think you’ll see better results in 2010.
